Artist Bio

Karen Meadows is a trailblazing mixed media artist, painter, and educator celebrated for her innovative technique of creating multi-layered collages with hand-dyed transparent papers. Her unique process infuses her work with remarkable depth, texture, and luminosity, offering a fresh perspective on contemporary art.

A graduate of the California College of the Arts (MFA, 1991), Karen has exhibited her work internationally, with highlights including the U.C. Museum of Art, Science, and Culture in California, the Lausanne Biennale in Switzerland, and Nordjyllands Kunstmuseum in Denmark. Her distinctive style has also been featured in solo and group exhibitions at Ruby Living Design in Mill Valley and Jen Tough Gallery in Benicia, CA.

Karen shares her pioneering techniques through her popular workshop, “Let Your Light Shine,” offered both in-person and online. These engaging sessions invite participants to explore the art of collaging with hand-dyed transparent papers, encouraging creativity and the discovery of personal artistic expression.

An award-winning artist and seasoned educator, Karen taught fine art for over two decades before dedicating herself fully to her art practice and workshops. Her public art installations and numerous residencies further exemplify her commitment to innovation and community engagement.
